The OPTITEC competitive cluster belongs to the "complex systems in optics and imaging" sector. Managed by POPSUD, an association set up in 2011, the OPTITEC cluster is made up of major industrial groups, SMEs and dot-com companies, as well as a number of research organisations in the PACA region.
Optics and photonics are at the heart of tomorrow's technological development. Southern France (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées) is one of the wealthiest European regions in this field, and offers a wide array of skills: from optical micro components to image processing, from light sources to detectors, from optical fibre data transmission to lasers, from mechanical optics to complex optical instrumentation, from telecommunication to space or medical fields.
The Urban Community takes part in the smooth running and management of the cluster and contributes to the Unique Interdepartmental Fund, so as to finance R&D for those innovative companies that develop within its area.
OPTITEC will play an indispensable part within the future Technoptic building, as the association will – amongst others – manage the active optics platform.

The PÉGASE cluster gathers together over 200 actors focusing on the development of a new generation of aircraft (drones, dirigible balloons, light planes, helicopters, new concepts and stratospheric aircraft) which are designed and implemented to accomplish specific missions such as structure inspections without heavy equipment, carriage of oversized loads with no infrastructures...
These exceptional missions have opened new markets to be gained by the air and space industries. These new developments are expected to create some 10,000 jobs within 10 years.
Within the Pégase network, can be found the traditional actors in the competitive clusters and Prides (Regional Clusters for Fair Economic Development): industrialists, research and training organizations, customers in need of more efficient aircraft and air/space services (e.g. emergency preparedness, fire fighters...).
Most actors in the cluster are located in the PACA region, but PEGASE also includes members originating from the Rhône-Alpes, Ile de France, Corsica regions...

Since it was labelled in July 2005, PACA PRIDES Sea Cluster have imposed themselves as unquestionable actors in the policies of sustainable development, maritime and coastal safety/security. The cluster covers five major market-oriented fields: maritime safety and security, naval and water sports, sea energy resources, sea biological resources, environment and coastal development.
The major high-tech fields are: marine and submarine technologies, complex information and communication systems, marine biotechnologies, ecotechnologies and more particularly those related to monitoring and protecting the sea and coastline environments. Our main objectives are: in the region - spreading our actions toward the French Mediterranean coastline, and worldwide - prioritising actions in Europe, the Mediterranean basin, North America and Brazil, focusing and organising our action toward the collaborative programmes and innovative projects, developing support services to the members especially SMEs/VSBs, developing strategic partnerships with other clusters, Prides and foreign sea-related clusters.

Sustainable areas and responsible industries: this is the core mission of the "Risk and area vulnerability management" cluster.
With a network of 192 members over 60% of whom are SMEs, the Risques cluster, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Languedoc-Roussillon regions, federates the energies and skills of businesses, major groups, research laboratories, technical and training centres towards innovation and concrete solutions in the overall management of all risks (whether natural, technological, industrial...). The Risques cluster also aims to boost the economic expansion of the region's companies by assisting them toward innovation, international openings or else financing them inside the network with the "business angels" and other assisting structures. Last but not least, the Risques cluster aims to develop their R&D. Since 2005, this assistance and knowhow integration have given birth to almost 200 innovative projects, 65 of which have been acknowledged and subsidised by over 40 million Euros. The cluster intends to become a major European actor in risk management.

In May 2010, the WATER cluster received the label of competitive cluster with worldwide calling; it has federated the players in the water sector, corporations, institutions and academic research from three French regions: Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. The cluster's strategy focuses on the water cycle – from its beginning to its restitution to natural environments, via various uses – within a context aggravated by global changes and usage conflicts.
The WATER Cluster's activities rely on 4 strategic orientations:
The WATER Cluster's objective is to create added value via ecosystem activities, the development of innovative projects, worldwide development and diffusion of French technologies and knowhow.
