Centrale Marseille

Centrale Marseille

Centrale Marseille’s vocation is to train general-purpose engineers with wide international perspectives as well as entrepreneurial and innovative skills. The school delivers high-level scientific courses, which are deeply anchored in the business and research world. It has over 200 outside instructors, many of whom belong to the business world, and 120 regular teaching researchers who carry out their research works in twelve partner laboratories. This overlapping creates a genuine dynamic between teaching, research and businesses.

Centrale Marseille aims to both favour budding talents and develop their sense of responsibility while respecting personal and societal values. It is scheduled to train some 350 students every year by 2015.

Centrale Marseille fully takes part in the Ecoles Centrales' group dynamics, and its students may attend their third year of studies in any of the schools in the group, or in one of the partner universities, which rank among the best in the world.

Polytech Marseille

Polytech Marseille

Marseille’s University Polytechnics School was created in 2001 via the regrouping of IUSTI, Charles-Fabry Institute and IUSPIM.

Linked with the domestic network of Polytech schools (12 Grandes Ecoles distributed all over France), Polytech'Marseille aims to give engineers a high-level, all-purpose training to be able to meet the professional requirements needed in their specialties: Mechanics and Energetics, Civil Engineering, Microelectronics and Telecommunication, Industrial and EDP Engineering.

With the merging of the 3 Aix-Marseille universities in 2012 and the association with ESIL (Luminy Engineering School), the size of Polytech'Marseille as well as its training offer have doubled, with a further 4 channels: Network and Multimedia Computing, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering and Materials.

With an offer of 8 courses of study and some 1,200 students, Polytech Marseille is among the most prominent schools in the Polytech network nationwide.

The school mainly recruits via the Polytech network, which offers with PeiP (Polytech engineering schools course of study) an integrated preparation to the engineering training that can be accessed via admission tests. This 2-year preparation is associated with a Science Bachelor degree course of study. Then the students may integrate one of the schools in the Polytech network, or take other competitive examinations to access other Grandes Ecoles. Every year, Polytech Marseille opens about a hundred places for this training and wishes to strengthen recruitment within establishments located in priority districts.

Marseille MECHANICS INSTITUTE - UNIMECA

Marseille Mechanics Institute is a Training and Research Unit that is part of the Université de la Méditerranée. It trains some 400 students per year and has a staff of 71 including 60 teaching researchers,  11 technical and administrative staff. The diplomas granted by the Marseille Mechanics Institute range from a "plasturgy and composite materials" professional bachelor degree to a doctor degree and the empowerment to manage the "Engineer Sciences" doctoral school research, through the "Mechanics, Physics and Engineering" Masters degree. Marseille Mechanics Institute is located in the UNIMECA Inter University centre for Mechanics and Mechanics Technology; it has historically specialised in aeronautics and space, but has succeeded in specialising its training offers toward fluid mechanics applied to the environment and fire risk engineering.

DOCTORATE SCHOOL no 353

"Engineering Sciences: Mechanics, Physics, Micro and Nanoelectronics"

The Doctorate School "Engineering Sciences: Mechanics, Physics, Micro and Nanoelectronics" focuses on the analysis and modelling of complex physics systems. Macroscopic continuum mechanics are a prime example of complex systems. The Doctorate school's main disciplines in this field are Mechanics and Physics of Continuum Mechanics (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, acoustics, thermal science, energetics, and biomechanics). The main fields of application are materials, transport, energy, environment, health and music creation. The other complex physics systems that are taught at the doctorate school are centred on micro and nanoelectronics, information and communication science and techniques, mainly focusing on "components, integrated circuits and systems". One of the doctorate school's main features is to be deeply rooted in "engineering sciences". Therefore, it plays a prominent part in the transfer of doctors toward industrial tasks or associated services, as well as in the translation of industrial issues into concrete thesis subjects.
