Centrale Marseille’s vocation is to train general-purpose engineers with wide international perspectives as well as entrepreneurial and innovative skills. The school delivers high-level scientific courses, which are deeply anchored in the business and research world. It has over 200 outside instructors, many of whom belong to the business world, and 120 regular teaching researchers who carry out their research works in twelve partner laboratories. This overlapping creates a genuine dynamic between teaching, research and businesses.
Centrale Marseille aims to both favour budding talents and develop their sense of responsibility while respecting personal and societal values. It is scheduled to train some 350 students every year by 2015.
Centrale Marseille fully takes part in the Ecoles Centrales' group dynamics, and its students may attend their third year of studies in any of the schools in the group, or in one of the partner universities, which rank among the best in the world.

Marseille’s University Polytechnics School was created in 2001 via the regrouping of IUSTI, Charles-Fabry Institute and IUSPIM.
Linked with the domestic network of Polytech schools (12 Grandes Ecoles distributed all over France), Polytech'Marseille aims to give engineers a high-level, all-purpose training to be able to meet the professional requirements needed in their specialties: Mechanics and Energetics, Civil Engineering, Microelectronics and Telecommunication, Industrial and EDP Engineering.
With the merging of the 3 Aix-Marseille universities in 2012 and the bridging with ESIL (Luminy Higher Engineering School), Polytech'Marseille will double its staff and training offer by providing another 4 complementary courses of study: network and multimedia computing, biotechnology, biomedical and materials engineering.
With 8 courses of study offered to some 1,200 students, Polytech Marseille will rank among the major schools in Polytech’s domestic network by 2012.
The school mainly recruits via the Polytech network, which offers with PeiP (Polytech engineering schools course of study) an integrated preparation to the engineering training that can be accessed via admission tests. This 2-year preparation is associated with a Science Bachelor degree course of study. Then the students may integrate one of the schools in the Polytech network, or take other competitive examinations to access other Grandes Ecoles. Every year, Polytech Marseille opens about a hundred places for this training and wishes to strengthen recruitment within establishments located in priority districts.
