Its missions:
The laboratory’s mission is to carry out audits, analyses and diagnoses for the benefit of the population, thus implementing the Department Council’s public health prevention policy.
It is made up of seven departments:
• administration and finance,
• medical,
• hydrology,
• dietary hygiene,
• animal health,
• technical assistance and training,
• general reception.
Its activities:
• Biological screening and follow-up care of patients from the medico-social centres (maternal and child welfare, planning), from the Aids and HIV Secondary Prevention centres, and from tuberculosis control centres.
• Sanitary control of drinking and bathing waters.
• Sanitary control of foodstuffs and prevention of collective food-borne illnesses.
• Livestock protection from contagious diseases and control of animal disease transmission to humans.
• Dissemination and control of sound hygiene practices in the kitchens of public and private establishments.
• Protection of plants from parasites, domestic and import checks.
