The grouping together of the engineering schools, which started out in 2001 with the creation of Polytech (University Polytechnic School network) was finalised in 2003/2004 with the creation of the Marseille Comprehensive Engineering School, whose calling is to join the domestic Ecole Centrale network. This pooling strengthens the site's recognition in terms of higher education both at national and international levels. |

The higher education system is strengthened by the university training centres in mechanics with Unimeca, and in mathematics, computer and IT sciences with CMI (Centre of Mathematics and IT Sciences). |
